Your questions answered

You can activate the following card types in the ANZ App and Internet Banking:

  • ANZ Access Card
  • ANZ Access Visa Debit Card
  • ANZ Business Visa Debit
  • ANZ Business One
  • ANZ Business Black
  • All personal ANZ Credit Cards.

Please note: ANZ Corporate or Purchasing cards can't be activated online. Please follow the instructions on your letter of offer or contact us if you have any questions.

If your current card is expiring and we’re sending you a replacement or you have ordered a replacement, you will be able to use your current card (prior to the last day of the expiry month) until you've activated your new card.

If you reported your current card lost or stolen, your existing card would have been cancelled and become unusable immediately. If your current card was in your digital wallet, it should update automatically so that you can start using it while you wait for your new physical card to arrive.

Creating a PIN that is easy to guess could put your account at risk and increase your liability for unauthorised transactions. Here’s some tips for creating a PIN and keeping it safe:

  • Your 4-digit PIN should be easy to remember but difficult for someone else to guess.
  • Avoid choosing a generic PIN or one that is easily identified with you (e.g. your date of birth or that of a family member, an anniversary, phone number, postcode).
  • Your PIN must be memorised and kept confidential. It must not be recorded anywhere or divulged to someone else.
  • Avoid using the same PIN across different cards, websites, apps and other services.
  • Change your PIN immediately if you suspect that someone else might know it.
  • Never share sensitive online banking details (such as your PIN, password, ANZ Shield code) with anyone, especially not through unsolicited emails, calls or messages. ANZ will never send you a message or an email asking you to verify or provide confidential information.
