Eligibility requirements

  • You're 18 years of age or over, and
  • You're a permanent Australian resident or a non-permanent resident with more than 12 months remaining on your Visa
  • You have a good credit rating. How to check your credit report

What you'll need

  • Australian driver's licence number (if you have one)
  • Details of your income, assets and liabilities
  • Two recent pay slips for income verification
  • If you're self-employed, you'll need your accountant's phone number
  • Details of your living expenses, such as regular bills
  • ANZ account number or Customer Registration Number (if you have one)
  • Your email address

We may offer you a credit limit based on the information you provide to us, so it's important to provide us with as much information as possible.

Your questions answered

You can request a specific credit limit or request the maximum credit that may be approved by us. If we approve your application, your maximum credit limit will be determined after processing your application and in some cases, may be lower than your requested limit.

If you have questions about your online application, don't want to apply online or would just like to discuss your options. Please call us on 13 33 33 from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm (AEST) Monday to Friday, and quote your online application reference number if you have one . You could also visit your ANZ local branch.

As a new ANZ customer, you’ll need to complete ANZ’s Customer Identification Process before we can send your card and welcome kit to you. Please visit any ANZ branch in Australia and provide personal identification listed in the Customer Identification Process Acceptable Identification Documents form (PDF) to do this.

If you’re eligible to verify your ID online, you’ll also need the reference number we SMS you.

  • You should receive a response in 60 seconds, with an online application reference number
  • If we need more information from you regarding your application, ANZ will contact you within the next two business days
  • You may need to complete an ID check so we can verify your identity before we can send your card and welcome kit to you. You can do this online or in branch with two forms of ID (one of which must be a government issued photographic ID) such as your Australian driver licence, Medicare card or Australian passport. If you’re eligible to verify your ID online, you’ll also need the reference number we SMS you.
  • Once we’ve verified your identity, we’ll send out your card and welcome kit by mail, which you should receive within 2-7 business days. 
  • You’ll need to activate your card before you use it.
  • Set your card PIN in the ANZ App. Log in, then tap More to get started.
  • You should then find out more about managing your card.

Applications for credit are subject to ANZ’s eligibility and credit approval criteria. Offer is for new and approved credit card applicants and is limited to one offer per applicant. ANZ may vary or end this offer at any time without notice.

Offer available in respect of balance transfers requested from Australian non-ANZ credit and store cards only at the time of applying for the new ANZ credit card. ANZ will process the balance transfer requested and any applicable fees up to 95% of your approved credit limit. Depending on the credit limit we approve, this might be less than the full amount of the amount of balance transfer you request when you apply.

The balance transfer Promotional Plan annual percentage rate expires 28 months after the date the credit card application is approved, which is the date of your Letter of Offer, and after the first 28 months the standard balance transfer annual percentage rate will apply to any unpaid Promotional Plan balance. A balance transfer can take between 3-15 business days to process once your card has been activated. Eligible applicants must meet the spend criteria within 3 months of the date of approval. The date of approval of an application is the disclosure date specified in your Letter of Offer. The 90,000 bonus Qantas Points and $200 will generally be credited to your ANZ Credit Card Account within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria. The $200 credit will be applied to the purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your Credit Card Contract with ANZ. The 40,000 bonus Qantas Points for retaining the card for over 12 months will be credited to your Qantas Points balance within 3 months from the second annual fee being charged. The 130,000 bonus Qantas Points will not be credited and you will not be eligible for $200 back if your ANZ Credit Card Account is cancelled, suspended, transferred, or you have breached either the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF) or the ANZ Frequent Flyer Rewards Terms and Conditions booklet (PDF) prior to the bonus Qantas Points or $200 being credited to your ANZ Credit Card Account.
