“Banks are in great shape to assist where we can, and we are aligned with the government on the need to give people a hand.”
– Shayne Elliott, Chief Executive Officer
Help is on its way.
There’s a lot of anxiety around the COVID-19 situation across all Australian households, communities and businesses right now. This is understandable.
The good news is banks are in great shape to assist where we can, and we are aligned with the government on the need to give people a hand.
The federal government has laid a strong foundation with its package of $A217 billion in direct economic assistance, along with $A5.6 billion in health support. Changes to JobKeeper eligibility, particularly around mutual obligations and specific provisions for charities, will go a long way in helping the community through a tough time.
At ANZ, we have a range of support measures in place to assist our customers. You can read detailed information about those policies, and those of the government, in the graphic below.
As the situation evolves, ANZ will remain flexible and continue to adapt our approach. We know we can’t solve every unique financial problem but we are making fast and decisive changes that will benefit many businesses and individuals - and there will be more to come.
