ANZ’s Tokyo office celebrated 50 years in December 2019, the first Asian branch for the bank. That first branch, a few blocks away from the current location opposite Tokyo station had just five staff – two Australian executives, two assistants and a driver.
Today ANZ has branches in Tokyo and Osaka and the vast majority of its 100+ staff are Japanese – with a few Australians, an American and a German.
The business covers financial institutions, resources, energy and infrastructure (REI), diversified industries, resources, industrials, securities and a select retail customer base.
Meet some of our Tokyo staff in the video below.

祝50周年
ANZ has been established in Japan for 50 years, opening an office in Tokyo on December 3, 1969. A full banking authority was approved in 1985, an Osaka branch in 1990 and a licence to deal in securities in 2018.
ANZ Japan has been instrumental in supporting the development of Australia-Japan trade and investment throughout that period, a time in which Japan became Australia’s most significant trade partner. The bank offers a full range of services to corporate and institutional clients together with retail and wealth products for individual investors.
