ANZ backs sport in Fiji through Fijian Drua sponsorship

ANZ Fiji today announced its sponsorship of Super Rugby Pacific’s newest team, the Fijian Drua.

Commenting on the sponsorship, ANZ Fiji Country Head, Rabih Yazbek said: “We’re very proud to be part of the support team behind the Fijian Drua.

“This idea of a ‘support team’ behind these great players has strong parallels with the support ANZ provides customers to help them progress and reach their goals.

“Fiji is bursting with sporting talent and it’s no secret that rugby holds a unique place in the hearts of Fijians.

“Super Rugby Pacific is a world-class competition and it attracts the best athletes.

“By providing more opportunities for young Fijians to showcase their rugby skills, we’re contributing to deepening regional relationships through sport.

“The impact of sport goes far beyond the stadiums that it’s played at and it’s an honour for ANZ Fiji to be part of an exciting new chapter in rugby with the Fijian Drua.

“ANZ is looking forward to giving our staff, customers and community more ways to get behind rugby in Fiji as we broaden our support for the sport – and we’ll have more to say on this soon,” Mr Yazbek said.

Fijian Drua Chief Executive Officer, Brian Thorburn, said: “We’re delighted to welcome ANZ into our Drua sponsor vuvale.

“The Drua is about to reach the shores of our maiden voyage and we couldn’t be happier to partner with one of the leading financial institutions in the region.

“Our team has been working hard and they are looking forward to running out in the first match this Friday with ANZ proudly displayed on our jerseys,” Mr Thorburn said.
