ANZ today announced it would partner with grassroots organisations across Fiji to support individuals and families during the Covid-19 lockdown.
ANZ has committed to donating FJ$60,000 (USD$30,000) over the next three weeks, funded through the ANZ Staff Foundation and matched dollar-for-dollar by ANZ.
The contribution will be split evenly to help provide necessities to people in need across Fiji and to support the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 field teams.
ANZ Fiji Country Head, Saud Minam, said: “We’ve been supporting our customers through the economic downturn with a range of relief options, and we will continue to do so. This is about supporting the wider community, including the most vulnerable groups who are impacted by this lockdown.
“Every Fijian knows just how fiercely we worked to contain the virus last year. We all know that this lockdown is the only way to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
“We can all show our support to the Ministry of Health field teams, who are all on the frontline of handling this virus, by strictly following the local health guidelines. This means getting back to basics: staying home, social distancing, washing hands and wearing a mask.”
ANZ Staff Foundation Trustee, Pauline Kostatino, said: “This lockdown is hard on everyone and we know some families are struggling to maintain their livelihoods.
“Our staff are passionate about helping people in their local communities. By partnering with grassroots groups from Nadi, Suva, Tavua, Vatukoula, Lautoka and Ba, we can ensure we provide support to individuals and families in need right across Fiji.”
