ANZ boosts support for social and affordable homes in Southeast Queensland with Community Housing Ltd

Published on 27 March 2025

ANZ today announced it will provide financing to Community Housing Ltd to deliver 156 new social and affordable homes across Southeast Queensland.

Supported by the Queensland Government’s Housing Investment Fund (HIF), Community Housing Ltd will design, construct and maintain 156 social and affordable dwellings across three project sites in Redbank, Waterford West and Miles.

Under the project a mix of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom dwellings will be constructed for individuals over 55 years old, to support independent, active lifestyles for aging residents.

ANZ is committed to supporting more social and affordable homes across Queensland. Today’s announcement brings ANZ’s support of social and affordable Queensland homes through our partnerships and financing to 1,129 since September 2024 under the Housing Investment Fund.

ANZ Group Executive, Institutional, Mark Whelan said: “Community Housing Providers play an integral role in housing outcomes through their delivery of new housing supply and their demonstrated best practice in tenancy management. We are proud to be working in partnership with a national provider like Community Housing Ltd to support the delivery of more social and affordable homes in Queensland.

“ANZ is committed to increasing the supply of social and affordable housing in Queensland and across Australia, with a target to fund and facilitate $10 billion of investment in more affordable, accessible and sustainable homes to buy or rent by 2030,” Mr Whelan said.

Community Housing Ltd is a national not-for-profit housing provider with over 11,000 properties under management, including over 1,200 in Queensland.

Community Housing Ltd CEO, Danny Dracic said: “This initiative marks a pivotal moment in Queensland’s strategy to support greater housing supply across the State. The replicable model, created in partnership with the Queensland Government and supported by ANZ, offers scalable, sustainable solutions for the future of social and affordable housing across the state.”

Today’s announcement follows ANZ’s earlier support for social and affordable housing in Queensland, announcing in September 2024 our support as a key financier for Tetris Capital and Community Housing Limited’s delivery of Queensland’s largest social and affordable housing precinct for seniors in Cairns, as well as Tetris Capital’s delivery of 483 affordable dwellings across key growth areas for young families, couples, and multigenerational households.
