ANZ is pleased to support the development of the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) and the Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power) Project, to help reduce carbon emissions in one of the UK’s most important industrial areas.
NEP will use this funding to develop a CO2 transportation and storage network in the Teesside industrial region of north-east England. Carbon capture and storage technology is key to enabling the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries in the Teesside area.
The NZT Power project, aiming to be one of the world’s first gas-fired power stations with carbon capture and storage, will provide flexible, low-carbon electricity generation, delivering dispatchable power to complement renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.
The projects represent a strategic effort to transition the UK’s industrial base towards a more sustainable and low-carbon future.
ANZ Head of Project & Export Finance, Europe, Elliot Slocombe, said: “These projects aim to support energy security and significantly reduce carbon emissions from two of the UK’s largest industrial clusters, including in hard-to-abate sectors, leveraging advanced technologies in carbon capture.”
“ANZ is pleased to play a key role in stimulating economic growth in the region, while contributing to the UK’s net-zero targets.”
The project will help deliver on ANZ’s Climate Change Commitment to support the bank’s key customers in the net-zero economy.
