ANZ today announced almost half a million dollars in grants to 27 charitable groups, funded through the ANZ Community Foundation. The grants, which total more than $400,000, will support community organisations to deliver projects that advance financial wellbeing, housing, environmental sustainability and other related initiatives.
In 2024, the ANZ Community Foundation supported the largest number of charities since its inception. Grants ranged from $5,000 to $30,000 with seven in Victoria, seven across Queensland and the Northern Territory, six in New South Wales, three each in South Australia and Western Australia, and one in Tasmania.
Funded by ANZ employees, every dollar staff donate to the ANZ Community Foundation is matched two-for-one by the bank. Since 1988, 978 grants valued at more than $7.6 million have been distributed to charitable groups across Australia.
ANZ Community Foundation Chair, Christine Linden, said: “The work of the Foundation goes to the heart of ANZ’s goal to shape a world where people and communities thrive. This year, we are pleased to have increased both the number of grants and the value of funds distributed.
“Grants provided by the ANZ Community Foundation enhance the work of the recipient organisations. I am always inspired by the creativity and commitment of our grant recipients, who continue to make a significant impact in their communities,” she said.
Grant recipients this year included Youngcare, a Brisbane-based disability support organisation that works to ensure young people with high care needs can live with freedom, dignity and choice.
Youngcare CEO, Greg Johnson said: “The funding from the ANZ Community Foundation will have an immediate impact. The grant will provide one-off funding for equipment, home modifications, as well as essential support and respite. The support from the ANZ Community Foundation goes beyond our standard funding requirements – it will increase the quality of life for those in need.
“Our long-term participation in this grant program has created lasting positive changes to the lives of young Australians with complex physical disabilities and their families, fostering independence, dignity, and a sense of belonging for these individuals,” he said.
Applications for the next annual ANZ Community Foundation grants will open in early 2025.
