ANZ’s new agile working approach will allow functionally different teams to work together around shared customer objectives, according to Kath Bray, ANZ’s New Way of Working transformation lead.
Speaking to bluenotes on video, Bray said while much had been said about ANZ’s focus on evolving its strategy and purpose, ‘NWOW’ is about how it will look in action.
In May, ANZ announced changes to its operational approach in a bid to improve the way the bank responds to customer needs, empower staff and improve productivity.
" [NWOW] is how we organise ourselves to deliver outcomes for customers and how we work as teams to do that." Kath Bray
“Where New Ways of Working comes in is really how we do that – how we organise ourselves to deliver outcomes for customers and how we work as teams to do that,” Bray said.

“The way we’re organised at the moment is in functional silos,” Bray said. “So it’s really about saying ‘let’s break down those functional barriers’.
“Let’s actually bring together these multi-discipline teams… and ask [them] to work together, galvanised around very singular customer objectives.”
She also touched on the ‘cultish’ language of agile and differences in operational structure. Watch the video above to find out more.
