Social media platforms like Facebook present an ideal opportunity for business to interact with customers in the way those customers want, ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott says.
Speaking to bluenotes on video - after becoming the first major Australian CEO to join Facebook’s influencer program in July – Elliott said technology was very important to who ANZ is.
"If our customers want to interact with the bank using technology and social media we have to participate in it." - Shayne Elliott“If our customers want to interact with the bank using technology and social media we have to participate in it,” he said.
Elliott said the way banks – including ANZ - will be shaped in the future won’t be defined by what other banks do but what customers enjoy the most.
“People’s experiences in life are defined by the AirBnB’s and the Facebook’s of the world and they in many ways describe what ‘good’ looks like,” he said.
“We need banking to be as engaging as those tools and that’s why being part of it is so important.”
