The agile methodology is more than just theatre in the workplace, ANZ Group Executive Digital Banking Maile Carnegie says – beyond the stand-up meetings and post-it notes is a fundamental new way of working.
Speaking to bluenotes on video, Carnegie said agile requires business leaders to be much clearer about objectives in a way which is easily passed down through teams.
“At its core for me, agile is all about distributed leadership,” she said. “[It’s almost about] leading through numbers rather than verbal committees and meetings.”

Carnegie said ANZ’s transition to agile was going well but warned it would be years before the bank was “expert practitioners” of the methodology.
“It’s going to be a multi-year [process],” she said.
Carnegie also touched on the importance of data in the agile way of working. Watch the video to find out more.
