One of Asia's most influential women in banking and finance has urged aspirational leaders to make clear their value in the workplace if they want to be successful in a tough business world.

Anne Collard, ANZ's global head of digital channels and implementation has been named one of the 25 most influential female treasurers and bankers throughout Asia-Pacific by CorporateTreasurer.

"The ability to articulate your value and be able to show what you can achieve is really important."

She says articulating your value is an important step in being recognised for leadership potential.

“I always liken [the workplace] to a pyramid," Collard says. “The higher up the pyramid you get, the less people there are, the more competition you face in terms of your day-to-day environment.

“The ability to articulate your value and be able to show and highlight what you can achieve with your teams and the outcomes is really important. The most important thing about that is to be able to tell people."

Business has a role to play too, Collard says, given men are often more comfortable speaking of their outcomes and successes than women.

“It's important to create an environment where you can share those successes,“ she says. “And highlight the value you have, and therefore be competitive in the right way."

Collard also touches on her recognition and the importance of sponsors and mentors. Watch the video above for the full interview.
