Note: You may only purchase an ANZ Travel Card from a Sales-only and in-Centre branch by using an ANZ account or a credit card which is accepted by ANZ.

| 1. What is it? |
|---|
ANZ Travel Card is a reloadable prepaid Visa card available over the counter to both ANZ and non-ANZ customers. It has been specially designed to give you more convenient access to your own money – in the currency of your choice – while you’re travelling. Purchase an ANZ Travel Card and you can lock in your exchange rate and load your card with one of the currencies listed below. That way, if the currency of the country you are travelling in is the same as the currency loaded on your card, you will no longer need to worry about fluctuating exchange rates. The ANZ Travel Card is PIN protected, and is accepted at over 24 million locations worldwide – including shops, car rental companies, travel agents and Visa-enabled ATMs. Available in 6 popular currencies:
| 2. How do I use it? |
|---|
You can use your ANZ Travel Card to withdraw cash from Visa-enabled ATMs or make purchases wherever Visa is accepted electronically. When you make a purchase with your ANZ Travel Card:
When you withdraw local cash from a Visa-enabled ATM:
Selecting the Credit ('CR') button (or the overseas equivalent) on Visa-enabled ATMs or merchant terminals gives you access via the Visa network to the stored value on your ANZ Travel Card. |
| 3. What are the benefits of the ANZ Travel Card? |
|---|
| 4. Is the ANZ Travel Card similar to a debit card? |
|---|
The ANZ Travel Card is similar to a debit card because the amount you can spend depends on the amount of stored value on your card. It can be used for both purchases and cash withdrawals anywhere Visa is accepted electronically, but unlike a debit card, the ANZ Travel Card is not linked to a bank account.
| 5. How do the benefits of the ANZ Travel Card compare to Travellers Cheques? |
|---|
Both the ANZ Travel Card and Travellers Cheques let you lock in your exchange rate at the time of purchase. However, unlike Travellers Cheques, the ANZ Travel Card can be used at Visa-enabled ATMs worldwide, to make purchases at point-of-sale, is secured by a PIN and can be reloaded.
| 6. How secure is my money? |
|---|
No money is stored on your card, nor is it linked to your bank account. This means better protection of your money if your card is ever lost or stolen. You are also issued with a backup card, which has a separate PIN from your primary card. That way, if one of them is lost or stolen, you still have access to your money. Advanced fraud detection software is also used to help to protect you and your money. |
| 7. What is the backup card for? |
|---|
When you purchase an ANZ Travel Card, you get two cards: a primary card and a backup card at no extra cost, for added security. If you lose your primary card while you’re overseas, you can still access your money with your backup card (which has a different PIN). You must not provide either your primary or backup card to any other person for their use.
| 8. Can I use the ANZ Travel Card in countries that use a different currency to that on my card? |
|---|
You can use the ANZ Travel Card all over the world, wherever Visa is accepted electronically, to make purchases and withdraw local money regardless of what currency is stored on your ANZ Travel Card. For example, John is travelling to Thailand, he purchases a US dollar (USD) ANZ Travel Card and loads the equivalent of AUD$4000. He can then withdraw Thai Baht from Visa-enabled ATMs whenever he needs local cash and to make purchases, and he can reload his card easily over the phone or Internet (via BPAY®) while away. When the local currency is different to the currency of your card, you will not incur any additional fees or charges, however, you will be subject to an exchange rate conversion - that is the amount of your transaction will be converted using a wholesale exchange rate selected by Visa on the day (you will see this on your online transaction history). |
| 9. How much does it cost? |
|---|
Please refer to the ANZ Travel Card Product Disclosure Statement (PDF 378kB) for the full list of fees and charges.
| 10. How much money should I load onto the card? |
|---|
How much money you will need depends on how long you will be staying overseas and what your expenditure will be (Refer to Q22 for Travel Card limits). As a guide, here are some budget considerations:
| 11. I want one! Where can I get my ANZ Travel Card? |

A PIN is allocated to you when you purchase an ANZ Travel Card, but you can change it to make it more meaningful to you. For security reasons though, you should not change your PIN to be the same number as your Security Code.
| 15. What do I do if I forget my PIN? |
|---|
If you forget your PIN, you must phone ANZ Travel Card Customer Service (refer to Q27) to retrieve it. (Please note, you will be required to enter your card details and personal Security Code at this time).
| 16. What is the difference between my Security Code and my PIN? |
|---|
Your Security Code is not the same as your PIN. Your Security Code is the four-digit number you nominated at the time of purchasing your card. Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is used to make cash withdrawals from ATMs, and is allocated to you when you receive your cards. Your primary card and backup card have different PINs. Please note: You may change your PIN as outlined in Q14 but you cannot change your Security Code. For security reasons though, you should not change your PIN to be the same number as your Security Code. |
| 17. Where can I use it? |
|---|
ANZ Travel Card can be used at more than 24 million locations worldwide, wherever Visa is accepted electronically. This includes making purchases in-store, online and over-the-phone, and to withdraw cash from Visa-enabled ATMs globally. Please note: some countries (eg. Cuba) may have government restrictions on currencies you can use, so make sure you check with the embassy of the country you plan to visit for any travel restrictions. |
| 18. How long can I use the card for? |
|---|
The card is reusable and valid for up to three years. The expiry date is printed on the card. You may request the transfer of your Stored Value to a new card in the same currency provided that the request is within the six month period before the Card Expiry Date and the Stored Value is for more than AUD100 equivalent by calling ANZ Travel Card Customer Service (refer to Q27). For further details, please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDF 378kB).
| 19. What is the monthly inactivity fee? |
|---|
If no transaction is made on the card for more than 12 months, a monthly fee will begin to apply. Please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDF 378kB) for more details.
| 20. Do I receive paper statements? |
|---|
No, but you can check your card balance and transaction history online via www.anzfx.com or by calling ANZ Travel Card Customer Service (refer to Q27).
| 21. What happens if I have money left over on the card? |
|---|
If there is money left on your card when you return home, you can either continue to use it, keep it for your next trip, or close it and redeem the outstanding balance by visiting any ANZ branch or ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre. Please note, however, that, if no transaction is made on the card for more than 12 months, a monthly fee will begin to apply (refer to Q19) and the card is only valid for up to three years (refer to Q18). For further details, or to find out about claiming funds from an expired card, please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDF 378kB). Any funds left over 12 months after the ANZ Travel Card has expired will be forfeited. |
| 22. What are the limits applicable to the ANZ Travel Card? |
|---|
Please refer to the ANZ Travel Card Product Disclosure Statement (PDF 378kB) for a full list of limits applicable to loading and to the use of your ANZ Travel Card.
| 23. Can I use my ANZ Travel Card as a security deposit or for pre-authorisation at hotels and car rental agencies? |
|---|
When using your card at certain types of merchants (particularly hotels and car rental agencies), a pre-authorisation of the transaction amount may be required. This means that the merchant may obtain an authorisation of the estimated purchase amount. Please note: this is not a charge, but simply a 'hold' over the funds. The full amount of the purchase value will be withheld from the available balance of the card until the authorisation is released. After your final bill is paid it may take 30 days before the pre-authorised amount is available on your card balance again. |
| 24. What happens if I lose my card or it gets stolen? |
|---|
If you lose your primary card, you can still access your money using your backup card. You must still report the lost/stolen card by calling the ANZ Travel Card Customer Service (refer to Q27) so we can cancel the card for you. If you find the missing card after reporting it, you will not be able to use it and will need to cut it diagonally through the magnetic strip. If you lose both cards, we can issue you with emergency replacement cards while you are away (please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDF 378kB) for more details and applicable fees and charges).
