Minimise your fees - Accounts

Minimise your fees

Conducting your day-to-day banking doesn't need to cost a lot. By selecting the right account, monitoring your transactions and using electronic banking you can reduce the amount you pay in fees.

Pick the account that's right for you

Sometimes, you pay fees for features you don't need. By selecting the right account, monitoring your transactions and using electronic banking you can reduce the amount of fees you pay.

Reduce the number of accounts you have

If you have many accounts you may be incurring fees on each account. You may want to consider merging your accounts, or check what the minimum balance for the account is to ensure you don't incur unnecessary fees.

Use "fee free" services where possible

It is worthwhile checking out what fees you incur with each transaction and how many "fee free" transactions you receive each month. 'Self service' transactions such as those conducted via ANZ Internet Banking, ANZ Phone Banking, ANZ ATMs, EFTPOS and cheques, may incur lower fees than transactions via an ANZ branch.

Investigate fee exemptions or packages

It is always in your best interest to ask about fee exemptions or packages for which you might be eligible. If you are aged under 18, a full time student, receive a Government benefit, or aged 60 and over you may be entitled to an exemption. To find out whether you are eligible for any fee exemptions, refer to the ANZ Personal Banking Account Fees and Charges or call 13 13 14.

Use ANZ ATMs to minimise fees for non-ANZ ATM use

Use ANZ ATMs to withdraw cash from your ANZ accounts, to avoid fees charged for using other banks' ATMs.

Use technology to stay in front

Receive text alerts and balance information on the go. Sign up to ANZ Mobile Phone Banking1 and you can find out your balance wherever you are and receive text alerts. Alternatively with ANZ Money Manager2 you can manage your money with trigger based alerts to keep up-to-date with your account balances.

Save time

You can save time by using ANZ Internet Banking to pay bills via BPAY® and transfer funds via Pay Anyone. Pay Anyone allows you to transfer funds to any individual or business with a bank account at most Australian financial institutions*.
