Q. How do Excesses work?
A. An Excess on your hospital insurance works like an Excess on your car or home insurance. You pay a lower premium by agreeing to contribute a small amount (the Excess) towards the cost of any hospital stay.

Q. What is an Excess Bonus?
A. Under some ANZ Health covers you can receive Bonus Points (Excess Bonuses) and these can be saved to pay for an Excess when admitted to hospital. The longer you remain a member, the more Bonus Points you’ll receive.

Q. What is 'Cash Back'?
A. If you choose Hospital cover with Excess Bonus Plus, you can choose to receive a $100 Cash Back instead of an Excess Bonus. The Cash Back option is subject to eligibility and the conditions are listed in the ANZ Health brochure.

Q. What if my kids are over 23 years of age?
A. For a few extra dollars a week, you can continue to cover your single children up to their 23rd birthday by upgrading from Family Membership to Family Plus Membership. Your children will be covered even if they are living away from home making it economical than if they take out single cover. What a great start!

Q. I am under the age of 28. Do I need cover?
A. You’re young and invincible but accidents and sickness can happen. ANZ Health offers relevant and extensive cover featuring a Top-Up Bonus to help reduce, if not eliminate, initial out-of-pocket expenses for a wide range of Extras treatments. Ask an ANZ Health Consultant about Young Singles Saver, Young Singles Choice and Young Couples Choice covers.

Q. What are Loyalty Maximums?
A. Most health funds set limits on the amount of Benefits that members can claim each year for some Extras services. At ANZ Health we prefer to reward members for their loyalty. So, we will increase the annual Benefit maximums each year until they are double the amount they were when you joined. One more advantage that ANZ Health offers to Extras memberships.

Q. Are alternative therapies covered?
A. ANZ Health offers cover for an extensive range of alternative therapies, including natural therapies, traditional Chinese medicine and massage, as an option with Your Choice Extras. Services must be provided by a practitioner recognised by ANZ Health.

Q. Does ANZ Health provide optical cover?
A. With participating opticians you can really add value to your ANZ Health cover. With these providers you’ll enjoy Benefits at least 20% higher (with higher maximums) than non-network providers. You’ll also receive between 60% to 80% back on the cost of standard lenses, depending on your level of cover and a 20% discount on frames in some instances.

Q. What if I want to change my Extras each year?
A. Your Choice Extras cover has been specially designed for people with changing needs. This product allows you to choose four Extras which can be changed on an annual basis. Loyalty Maximums still apply on most services.

Q. What do I pay if I go to hospital?
A. ANZ Health has access to a national participating private hospital network. This is great news for you because all costs for major hospital services, such as accommodation, theatre and intensive care fees, are fully covered (excess and co-payments may still apply). This also means that you are unlikely to need to pay a gap or see a bill.

Q. What about my medical costs?
A. With Ezyclaim, a gap cover billing system, you can receive care from Specialists in hospital without paying a gap or a bill. Ask your Specialist whether they use the Ezyclaim system and then ensure all your aligned Specialists do the same.

Q. What are instant rebates?
A. On-the-spot electronic claiming is the easiest way for you to claim Extras rebates. Just swipe your membership card through the terminal after your treatment, and the rebate is paid directly to your provider so you only have to pay the balance. It saves time and hassle and keeps money in your pocket.
