ANZ and its people have a proud commitment to community involvement.
We offer all ANZ staff at least one day's paid volunteer leave per year to make a difference in their communities. Since the program started in 2001, we have contributed more than 155,000 volunteer hours to a wide range of initiatives, projects and not-for-profit organisations.
In 2007, our staff in Australia and NZ recorded over 70,000 volunteering hours. The ANZ Volunteers program has expanded, with an official launch in India in July 2007. 389 people have already volunteered, contributing more than 3,000 hours in the program's first four months. Our goal now is to achieve 70,000 hours of staff volunteering across the Group.
Our staff volunteer for a variety of activities in the community. We've built homes for people in need, created and restored community facilities, supported local schools, fought fires, planted trees, and much more, including:
- Developing robust technology systems for community organisations to streamline capacity and create efficiencies.
- Over the past 2 years, over 400 staff have been involved in The Long Walk to raise awareness about Indigenous issues in Australia.
- More than 200 staff have been involved in building new houses for families in need through Habitat for Humanity.
