| Responding to the community on exception fees |

|
ANZ has announced a new fee structure for Australian personal banking customers, reducing or eliminating exception fees on personal accounts, in response to consumer feedback that they want fees to be clearer and fairer. Fees charged when a customer overdraws their account, or when a transaction is declined for insufficient funds, have been reduced from $35 to $5. There is now no fee charged at all when a customer overdraws their account by less than $50. Fees for going over a credit card limit or making a late payment on a credit card, mortgage, personal loan or Esanda consumer loan, have been reduced from $35 to $20. Exception fees are removed altogether for customers who receive government benefits and have an Access Basic account, ANZ's concessional transaction account. |
| Case study: Small Business workshops |
|---|
|
A series of workshops hosted by ANZ this year provided hundreds of businesses with practical guidance on how to manage their business through the economic downturn. Facilitated by a panel of industry experts, the workshops are based on the issues ANZ looks at when deciding whether to finance a business, including business planning and branding and marketing. The most popular workshop, focusing on online management offered advice on how to encourage traffic to websites and maximise sales online. The cash flow management workshop gave participants insight into the key financial drivers of their business and how to remain resilient while still preparing for prosperous times ahead. The workshops are free and participants do not need to be an ANZ customer to attend. In 2010 we will seek to make the workshops more accessible, particular for business operators in remote areas, by offering them in webinar format on our Small Business Hub website, alongside information, advice and discussion forums on how to start, grow and run a small business. |
